What we do

Our approach

Our investment funds provide essential capital for launching and growing innovative carbon projects in North America. We structure our investments to meet the individual needs of our developer partners, most commonly providing upfront capital in return for a portion of the carbon credits, with typical investments ranging from $2-15 million per project. Credits from our projects are aggregated into a diverse portfolio to meet our clients’ stringent requirements for quality and environmental and social co-benefits.

Positioning statement

We are founded and backed by a Canadian pension fund, Fondaction, and its partner, Priori-T Capital. Since 2017, we have supported over 40 projects in both compliance and voluntary carbon markets. Credits from our projects are aggregated into a diverse portfolio to meet our clients’ stringent requirements for quality and environmental and social co-benefits.

The Inlandsis team has deep experience in carbon markets, stretching back to the 2000s and the Managing Directors invest their own capital in each of our projects. Through our long-term investments, we build durable relationships with our developer partners.

Our impact

Inlandsis is dedicated to financing projects that deliver measurable greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals that contribute towards both near term and long term global climate change targets, such as under the Paris Climate Agreement. We focus on protecting the environment, natural resources, and biodiversity by directing capital toward projects that reduce and remove greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The projects in our funds are forecast to reduce and remove the equivalent of over 20 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.

The nature-based projects in our portfolio range from forests protected through the implementation of forever wild conservation easements to grasslands conservation activities to protect migratory bird habitat and help ensure that ranching families can pass their ranches to future generations. We have also supported dairy farms across the US to turn manure into electricity and to avoid the risk of polluting local streams. Each project we fund delivers tangible environmental, social and economic co-benefits in addition to verified greenhouse gas emission reductions and removals.
