Cambria 33 Mine Methane Capture Project

Project Overview

The Cambria 33 mine, abandoned since 1994, is located in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania and is owned by Arcelor Pristine. Gas lease rights for the Pileski Well 2 are owned by the Vessels group. The Project was initially operated as a methane production and gas pipeline injection project but permanently ceased operations in November 2015. In 2018, Inlandsis funded the capital and initial operating costs to enable the development and construction of the abandoned mine methane (AMM) destruction project. The installation of the enclosed combustor and upgrades to the booster compressor enables the destruction of methane that would otherwise have been emitted to the atmosphere via leaks from the abandoned mine, had the mine methane collection infrastructure and the destruction device not been installed in 2018.
